Simplified User Management with System Templates

Further Simplifying User Data Entry

A powerful new feature has been added for multi-site applications called System Profile Templates.

Your customer can now specify templates which are comprised of individual system profile permissions across multiple systems.  When adding a new code, simply choose the template to use and the new code will be added to all systems specified in the template in one click, secondary batch options are no longer required.  Once the code has been added using a template it now becomes a single line entry for easy modification across multiple systems.

As your customer's systems grow, you can add new systems to the template which will automatically update all codes which were previously added with permissions to the new system.

This feature is supported on all current intrusion/access panel integrations including Bosch, DMP, Elk, and Honeywell, also including our ScanPass Mobile Access Credentials.

Tesla Model X Acts as Operational ‘Office’ for Integrator

Connected Technologies dealer takes web-hosted platform for a ‘spin.’

Jeff Kesterson, owner of Nightwatch Security & Telephone, LLC in Sedalia, Mo., a Connect ONE® by Connected Technologies dealer, has a penchant for security and automation – and a love of his Tesla Model X vehicle.

He recently discovered that his all-electric Tesla sports utility could readily incorporate the Connect ONE integrated systems cloud-hosted user interface via its on-board internet browser, allowing access to automation capabilities via the 17-inch in-car touchscreen. “It was easy to access and run Connect ONE from the Tesla for access to both mobile and desktop user portals,” said Kesterson. He was unsuccessful at uploading other provider’s cloud-hosted services – while Connect ONE worked flawlessly.

“I use it to automate functions at my home, like opening the garage door or locking or unlocking doors, which I can accomplish from anywhere I go and have an internet signal,” he said. “I operate Connect ONE through the user portal, just like any customer would from any web-enabled device.” It could also be used to control Connect ONE video, access control, HVAC, lighting, energy management and other functions of the integrated systems solution. He likewise uses the in-car interface to remotely control the company’s office security, exterior building lighting, signage lighting and door locks.

“I see the day coming when more and more cars will have internet access,” he continued. “Connect ONE is definitely ahead of the game and on the cutting edge with this type of seamless connectivity.”

Kesterson, who has been an authorized dealer for about six years, said he likes the simplicity of the software compared to others on the market, as well as the high level of support from Connected Technologies. “It’s so easy for my customers to use. That means a better experience for them and fewer support and service calls for me.”

Nightwatch Security & Telephone is a family-owned and operated installation and central station company. Kesterson started the company in 1980 while in college and opened the regional central monitoring station in 1995. The company now has 15 employees, including central station operators, serving commercial and residential customers.  Nightwatch focuses on providing superior service to customers and that’s how the company competes successfully in the security market.

“It’s so easy to use the features of Connect ONE from the Tesla. It’s almost like it’s built into the car.”

3rd Party Integration with Open UserAPI – Now Expanded for Bosch B/G Series Control Panels

Dealers were asking for one-point data entry for companies utilizing human resource software so they could automatically populate the access control database without re-entering data. Connect ONE® by Connected Technologies, LLC delivered, with the Access Expander’s Open User Application Programming Interface (API).

Now dealers can integrate their connected Bosch B & G series control panels with Connect ONE and third-party human resource software via the API, previously supported on the DMP XR and Elk M1 platforms. It can also be deployed for membership based facilities, opening the door of opportunity to customers and markets such as multi-tenant, multipurpose rooms, gated communities or rental properties.

“We developed this capability based on calls from dealers who wanted to know if they could interface with human resource management software so employees only needed to be added once and their profile would automatically populate into Connect ONE,” said Mike Simon, managing partner, Connected Technologies. “A new employee can be assigned access without having to re-enter their information into Connect ONE, saving on double entries. Likewise, when their employment has expired their access can automatically deactivate,” he said.

Simon added that manufacturers typically develop their hardware and software offerings for the masses, not niche markets. “We service these niche markets and want dealers to know they can come to us with suggestions that can make their value proposition stronger and their business more profitable,” he said.
